Brick Lane’s Markets

Brick Lane Market is located at the northern end of Brick Lane and along just by the side of Cheshire Street in East London. It operates every Sunday from around 8am to around 2pm. After 2pm there’s still a lot to do so stay on and experience Brick Lane’s culture.

A huge variety of items can be found on Brick Lane, from antique books to eight-track cartridge decks (for many years it hosted a stall selling nothing but amplifiers and cheap TV’s). A large part of its charm is the possibility of such strange discoveries and it has always been popular with and much photographed by art students. Bargain hunters from across London also value it greatly.

Recent changes made by Tower Hamlets Council have pushed the market back towards Shoreditch High Street Station.

Further down Brick Lane there is also the Brick Lane Upmarket which first opened its doors in September 2004. With over 140 stalls selling fashion, accessories, crafts, interiors and music, it is undoubtedly one of London’s most exciting and imaginative markets. It is open every Sunday from 10am-5pm in Ely’s Yard (entrances on Brick Lane & Hanbury Street)

Brands use Brick Lane as a PR tool with Adidas bringing Lionel Messi, the world’s favourite footballer to the Truman’s Yard. Brick Lane also houses pop up shops from many major brands. Recently a Japanese exclusive brand came to brick lane to sell their wares.
